I am one of several people in my family who works, or has worked, in the medical or psychiatric profession. \n My approach is to treat each person I encounter with dignity, to demonstrate respect and value each individual's perspective. This approach served me well while working with patients who had HIV/AIDS in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. I consider myself fortunate to have provided such a needed clinical service, as it provided many precious opportunities for personal and professional growth. \n I'm married and have three children, including a son who is a councilman, a daughter who is an attorney and another daughter who works as a hospital administrator and administrative assistant for a New York State senator. I also have three intelligent and energetic grandchildren. My joys are photography, skydiving, attending live jazz events, visiting vineyards and traveling.
